For ten years from 1990 Mauds was located in the beautiful little village of Gleno, on the outskirts of the famous Glens of Antrim. Mauds Dairy, with its unique viewing gallery, was a popular stop off point for many a day tripper. Mums and Dads would stop for a coffee whilst the wee ones could stretch their legs on a walk around the village and the National trust waterfall before heading off again with a poke of Poor Bear in their hand.

Gleno was a picturesque and peaceful location favoured by many TV producers and as a result Mauds was regularly featured in a variety of programmes including the BBC’s Anderson’s Travels, Bon Voyage and the ITV Saturday morning children’s programme Ghost Train. During our time in Gleno, Mauds received a coveted British Airways Tourism Award for product excellence in the Ulster Foods section.

In 1999 the Belfast Telegraph reported that a Larne man had captured on video UFOs hovering over the Larne Lough area near Gleno. Could these vehicles have been full of hungry Aliens dying for a scoop of Mauds? Or was it just a quiet news day?
