Our best seller is a honeycomb and vanilla ice cream called Poor Bear's Delight! It now accounts for over 50% of sales and requires some 3.25 tonnes of honeycomb per week! We make not only the ice cream but the honeycomb that goes into it... in fact we make over 150 tonnes of the lovely sweet sticky stuff every year! And it all goes into Mauds own Poor Bear’s delight. Cafe Mauds in Newcastle, Co. Down has indoor seating for 100 people and an outdoor patio. Visitors to Café Mauds will also experience a spectacular view of the Mourne Mountains!
Mauds in High Street Bangor set a Mouthwatering and Eyewatering Record! Back in the scorching summer of ’96 the girls in the shop sold over 3000 litres of Mauds ice cream in one week - that’s a staggering fifty thousand scoops. Look at the muscles on those girls’ arms. Well done! As far as we know this is a record for the number of scoops sold in any seven day period, but if you know different we’d love to hear from you!
In 2004, some cheeky thieves broke into a Videocity store and stole not Videos, not CDs not even the latest DVDs but instead made off with Mauds Ice Cream! A chilling robbery.
